Editors Comments:
According to the U.S. Department of Labor the jobs for chefs, cook and food preparation workers "are expected to be plentiful through 2014". The U.S. Department of Labor warns that "competition should be keen for jobs in the top kitchens of higher end restaurants". If you want to have a step up on the competition you'll need to have the proper culinary arts education. Students who attend a culinary arts school also benefit from work-study programs called internships. Students are hired part-time by local area restaurants and are paid as they learn.
